At Kasih Co-op, every piece tells a story—a story of heritage, skill, and the incredible hands that bring our handcrafted creations to life. We are immensely proud to partner directly with talented artisans across Indonesia, from Java and Bali to Sulawesi and East Nusa Tenggara.

Our relationships with our artisan partners are more than just business; they are deep connections built on mutual respect, shared passion, and a commitment to preserving cultural heritage. Today, over 80% of our artisan partners are women-owned small businesses. We invite you to meet the remarkable individuals who form the true heart of Kasih Co-op.

The Batik Masters

Batik is a process, not just a motif. We work closely with master batik artisans who have been honing this meticulous craft for over 20 years, learning the techniques directly from their parents.

  • Mr. Alan, Mrs. Ari, Mrs. Umaroh, Mrs. Rosipa, and Mr. Fajar: These dedicated artisans are the hands behind our signature batik collections. Utilizing the 700-year-old traditional Batik Cap (wax-resist stamping) method, they carefully dip copper stamps into hot wax and press the intricate geometric and flowing patterns onto 100% cotton mori fabric.

  • Because every step is done by hand—from the stamping to the dyeing and the boiling process to melt the wax away—no two pieces are exactly alike. They embrace the natural variations, hairline cracks, and rich, multi-layered colors that distinguish authentic, handmade batik from machine-printed imitations.

Our Commitment to Fair Trade

Preserving these ancient techniques means ensuring the people who practice them are supported, uplifted, and compensated fairly.

As a verified member of the Fair Trade Federation, Kasih Co-op guarantees that our supply chain honors the maker at every step. We work collaboratively with our 18 artisan partnerships to ensure fair wages, safe working conditions, and sustainable opportunities that help scale their local businesses.

Woven with Love

The name Kasih means "love" or "care" in Indonesian, and Co-op signifies the collaborative groups of makers we partner with. When you choose a Kasih Co-op bandana, scarf, or home textile, you are not just buying a beautiful item. You are directly supporting these incredible individuals, empowering female artisans, and ensuring that an ancient, invaluable art form continues to thrive for generations to come.
