Premium Batik Tulis: Fully Hand-Drawn Bandanas

FAQ

What is Batik Tulis and why is it special?

Batik Tulis is the most traditional, labor-intensive, and revered form of Indonesian batik. Instead of using copper stamps to apply the design, artisans use a specialized pen-like tool called a canting to meticulously draw the hot wax resist patterns directly onto the fabric by hand. Because every single line and dot is drawn manually, the process takes significantly longer, and no two bandanas are exactly alike. It is true wearable art.

Who makes these hand-drawn bandanas?

Each piece is handcrafted by our master artisan partners in Cirebon and Jogjakarta, Indonesia. We maintain direct, long-standing relationships with these talented makers. As a verified member of the Fair Trade Federation, we ensure that every purchase directly supports these artisans and their families through ethical employment practices and fair wages.

How can I style or use my bandana?

These soft cotton squares are incredibly versatile. You can wear them as a classic neck scarf, tie one around your tote bag for a pop of color, or use them as a comfortable, elegant head wrap. Because the cotton is so soft and breathable, they make excellent, stylish head coverings for general hair loss or baldness.

How should I care for my hand-drawn batik?

To preserve the vibrant colors and the integrity of the fabric, we recommend gently hand washing your bandana in cold water with a mild, natural detergent. Hang it to dry in the shade, away from direct sunlight, to keep the traditional dyes looking fresh.

How will my order be packaged?

We are committed to sustainability at every step of our process. Your hand-drawn bandana will arrive safely in eco-friendly, plastic-free packaging, utilizing upcycled materials to minimize our environmental footprint.
