Kasih Co-op
For every piece you purchase, we will sponsor a child's education for one month

OUR STORY

Kasih Co-op is a socially responsible brand that sponsors education for children in need by sourcing unique and beautiful hand made products from third world countries. Founded by Ivana Darmawan, an Indonesian who lives in Los Angeles, Kasih Co-op was created to curate unique, hard to find and yet beautiful items, handmade by women entrepreneurs in third world countries.

Kasih Co-op is the product of Ivana’s personal experience of being awarded a high school scholarship to study in Singapore.  She is inspired to give back to children in third world countries with the hope that they too can achieve their personal potential once granted the basic right of access to education.

Additionally, Ivana's mother encountered numerous roadblocks when started her own business because she was a woman.  Kasih Co-op is proud to work with female entrepreneurs to empower them with the tools for gender equality and successful business ventures.

Kasih Co-op is launching with handmade jewelry from Indonesia, and plans to provide lifestyle and home goods from developing countries in the future.

"Kasih" has two meanings in the Indonesian language - to “care” and to “give”. We hope that you show your care by helping to give children an opportunity for education.

HOW IT WORKS

On behalf of each piece of jewelry purchased, Kasih Co-op will make a charitable donation in support of one month of children’s education.

These donations currently support the nonprofit Pencils of Promise. They provide access to education in Laos, Nicaragua and Guatemala. These countries have extremely low literacy rates (on average 1 out of 4 children cannot read in Laos, Nicaragua and Guatemala vs 1 out of 100 children in United States) and are plagued with ethnic and gender discrimination, poverty and inadequate school conditions.

We are always looking for new nonprofit partners to support. Please email us at info@kasihcoop.com for more information.
